Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This policy explains what information the Colorize app handles and why.

No account, no personal profile

Colorize does not ask for your name, email or any sign-in. The app creates a random anonymous identifier on your device. It is used to link your subscription and credits to your device and to process your requests.

Photos

You choose which photos to process. When you start a restoration or enhancement, the selected photo is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server, processed, and the result is sent back to the app. A photo is used only to create the result you asked for.

How a photo is processed

Before the first photo is sent, the app shows an AI Processing Consent screen that explains what is sent (only the photo you selected), who it is sent to (our server and OpenAI) and why. Nothing is uploaded unless you tap “Accept & Continue”. If you tap “Decline”, the photo stays on your device and is not processed. Your choice is saved on your device; after you reinstall the app you will be asked again.

Protection by third parties

We share photos only with service providers that are bound to protect them at least as well as described in this policy. OpenAI processes photos under its API terms and data processing commitments: it uses them only to provide the service to us, does not use them for training, protects them with industry-standard security, and deletes them within the period described above.

How photos are stored

Face Data

This section explains how Colorize handles faces that appear in the photos you choose to restore or enhance.

What face data we collect

Colorize does not scan your photo library and does not use the camera to capture faces. The only face data the app handles is the image of a face that appears in a photo you select yourself for restoration or enhancement. That photo is uploaded to our server as an ordinary image.

Colorize does not collect, derive or store biometric identifiers or biometric information: no facial recognition data, face geometry, facial landmarks, face templates or face prints. It does not use Face ID, the TrueDepth camera or ARKit face tracking, and it does not run face detection on your device.

How face data is used

A photo that contains faces is used for one purpose only: to generate the restored, colorized or enhanced image you requested and return it to you. The AI processing is instructed to keep each person’s appearance and identity unchanged.

Face data is not used:

Sharing and storage of face data

Retention of face data

Support messages

If you write to us through the Support screen in the app or the contact form, we receive your message. Messages from the app also include your anonymous identifier, the app version and the iOS version, so we can look into your problem. We use them only to answer and to improve the app.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. Subscription status and credit balances are managed with RevenueCat, which receives your anonymous identifier and purchase information.

No tracking or advertising

Colorize does not track you across apps or websites, does not show ads, and does not sell or share your data for advertising.

Permissions

The app asks for permission to add photos to your library only when you choose to save a result, and for camera access only when you scan a paper print. Photos you pick are accessed through the system picker, without access to your whole library.

Children

Colorize is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Deleting your data

You can delete your photos and history in the app at any time. To ask us about any other data related to you, write to us through the contact form or the Support screen in the app.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date above shows when it last changed.
